November 1, 2015 Service of Remembrance
Our Service of Remembrance. It is a solemn day. A day we, in community, remember our loved ones who have gone on to be with the Lord in the past year. It is a day we celebrate the promises of life in Christ as we remember. It is a day of joy for the good news is that Jesus has won the victory over death...“he will wipe every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; mourning and crying and pain will be no more,” as Amy read in our epistle. Those are wonderful promises, and we await the fulfillment someday. But today...we do mourn, there is pain, we do shed tears. And its not because we don't believe the promises; look at Jesus in today's gospel lesson. He wept at the grave of Lazarus...even though he knew that he was about to resuscitate his friend.
