Our worship services start at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday mornings.
We at First Presbyterian have purposefully chosen to continue with a traditional worship format. We understand the attraction of praise bands and dialog sermons, but feel that there is a need for the traditional worshipers to have a service to call their own, where they can experience a service that feels worshipful to them.
Our hymns are often the classic hymns, mixed in with occasional praise songs. In our scripture, we follow the church lectionary which is a listing of scriptural readings common throughout many denominations. We have an Old Testament reading or Psalm, an epistle reading (letters of the New Testament) and a Gospel reading. The sermon is usually based on one or more of these readings. We include all three readings because we all hear with the understanding that God's Word speaks to each of us in a special way: including directly through the reading of the Word as well as through the preaching the Word. We close with more hymn singing, prayers and a blessing.
The first Sunday of each month we share the Lord's Supper. All who truly seek to follow the Lord are invited to partake.
